Heaven Forbid

Welcome to Rock the Lass, our annual charity music festival at The Yorkshire Lass in New Marske. This years event broke all records and £3300 was raised for the Great North Air Ambulance.

Over the last three years we have raised £8300 for MacMillan Nurses. and our new charity The Great North Air Ambulance, next year we have set a target of £5000.

This year we have a series of fund raising events, were held leading up to the Rock the Lass Festival, and the same will precede next years event, details of which can be found on the events page of the web site.

Neil RossSome of the top bands in the area will be performing and food refreshments and other entertainment will be available on the day. Why not turn up, have a great day and also help a worthwhile charity.

The Rock the Lass idea was created sometime during the winter of 2005 following a discussion between Dave, (our Landlord), Steve who became chairman of the committee, and Pete who became Stage Director - the idea was drafted out on the back of a beer mat!!! and here we are 3 years on.

The first Rock the Lass festival was planned to take place in August of 2006 to help raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer support of the UK. (Click here to see original Rock the Lass MySpace site!)

The suggestion to support the Macmillan Cancer support was welcomed by all involved. It was agreed that most people who would be present at the festival would appreciate the cause that we were intending to help.

The plan was 9 bands to be play for and be seen for FREE (with all donations going to charity). There was food, drink, music and sun!
Hopes where high that we would get a good day, but nothing could prepare us for what was in store.

First off, the weather was perfect, overcast,to keep anyone from getting burnt and pleasantly warm.

GuitaristIn the first hour we were very pleased with the turn out, with no more people, 100 would make our day and all the efforts worth while, but in the hours to come no one could have imagined that over the whole day an estimated 700 people passed through the gates, and the people they gave and they gave generously.

The Pub was open to serve and there was also a Beer tent outside - the pub ran out of Beer twice after 2 different orders of what is normally ordered at Christmas time, but never fear, it was never a wait for longer than 20 minutes to get the beer back on tap. The event raised a total of £3000 for MacMillan Nurses.

Such was the success of the first event that it was decided to hold the event every year. The Follow up event Rock the Lass 2 took place on the 11th August 2007. Once again we were blessed with good weather and the crowds flocked to the event. The bands laid on a truly magnificent festival enjoyed by all, and the crew were on hand to make sure that the event was as laid back and enjoyable for everyone.

Once again The event raised an incredible £2000 for MacMillan Nurses, This year we are hoping to beat all previous records both in terms of fund raising and the number of people who come to the event once again we have some of the top bands in the area performing at the event the full band line up is below.

If you are unable to attend but would like to make a donation to the event clock on the donations button on the menu for for details. Come down have a great day and tell all of your friends about the event we look forward to seeing you at the festival.
entertained.
